Daily Bytes: HubSpot Recap, EMail & Social Media, Content Plans & Blog World Expo
Posted on Fri, Oct 16, 2009
It is Friday and it is always time for the HubSpot weekly recap. In addition, today’s Daily Bytes looks at 11 steps towards social media and email convergence, building a content marketing plan and a recap of Day 1 from Blog World Expo 2009, now taking place in Las Vegas.
Top 5 Inbound Marketing Stories of the Week: Missed Branding Opportunities
The missed branding opportunities post focuses on the Firefox plug in Wisestamp which allows users of certain email services, e.g. GMail to add customization to their email signatures that will enhance branding an business opportunities, including sharing RSS feeds, blog posts, social media connections, etc. My favorite post this week of this collection of five stories is a post from Jeremiah Owyang on how speakers need to incorporate social into their presentations. Having watched people go tweet-crazy at several conferences recently, this post is highly relevant.
11 Steps Toward Social Media and Email Convergence
Are the same people managing your email program as your social media program? How are you creating synergies between bot programs? Social media strategy consultant, Jay Baer outlines 11 steps to converge your efforts in the arenas of social media and email. He also provides you with a link to his presentation on the same topic at the Exact Target Connections 09 Conference in Indianapolis this week.
Creating Consistent Marketing – A Content Marketing Plan
Content is marketing and companies need to think of themselves as storytellers about their business. And doing it successfully requires a budget – not so much a financial budget but a 1 – 7 – 30 – 4 – 2 – 1 time budget. It is an ambitious blueprint, but one that can pay dividends for a company. It is a good piece and can be helpful to your own content scheduling plans; however, I would have liked some real live examples of companies that have adhered to such a schedule and the results of their time investment.
Blog World Expo Recap: Day 1
Blog World Expo 2009 started in Las Vegas yesterday and goes through the weekend. Blog World Expo is the world’s largest blogging tradeshow and conference. And many of the country’s top bloggers are there. You can watch much of it live through myContent.com (which appears to be a “Ustream” for artists – would have preferred UStream for this event). As most of us don’t have time to watch the live streams, I am enjoying blog recaps like this one as well as the live tweet stream through the hastag #bwe09. There are some great insights to be gained for business, e.g. the summary of the “Sponsored Conversations” session about the new FTC rules around sponsored blogs.
