Daily Bytes: Don’t Be Boring, Halford’s and Flight Delays
Posted on Thu, Oct 01, 2009
Today’s Daily Bytes focuses on how NOT to be boring. In addition, it discusses how the UK car and bike retail chain with an amazing name [Halford's] is using mobile in innovative ways and a new tool that can help you predict flight delays.
25 Reasons Why Your Company is Boring
This is another entertaining blog from Kyle Lacy. Hopefully your company isn’t all of these 25 things . . . but time to think about where you are “boring”.
How To Be A Better Presenter
20 great points on how to improve your presentation skills from Max Kalehoff. Working on a major presentation right now and am going to use this list. Also, I love Point 16: “Smile, because that’s professional and makes people want to like you.”
Halford’s extends multichannel strategy to mobile
Halford’s is a significant UK bike and auto retailer. I am sure there is a distant family relation to the name, but it is now a publicly traded company in the UK that has been very successful in multichannel retailing. This post from eConsultancy talks about their new Text and Reserve service which allows shoppers to check inventory at local stores by SMS.
New tool for predicting flight delays
Springwise is a great website. It bills itself as “your daily fix of entrepreneurial ideas”. Well, I love today’s highlight on Flightcaster. Using algorithms, this nifty service can predict with 95 % accuracy flight delays up to 6 hours in advance. It is free online and $ 9.99 for Blackberry or iPhone. A bit pricey, I admit, but it might be worth it if you are traveling every month for business.
