Today’s Daily Bytes is focused on Implementation and therefore, how effectively marketers are implementing initiatives using digital and social media platforms.  The first post is an entertaining video on Social Media ROI from Erik Qualman, who produced the much retweeted and watched video called The Social Media Revolution.  The other post is a recent Wall Street Journal article which focuses in on how several leading brands are enabling consumers to talk back to the TV.

Does Social Media Produce a Positive ROI?:  Social Media ROI Examples and Video

Erik Qualman certainly qualifies as one of the leading social media voices today.  His early fall video on The Social Media Revolution spread virally on Twitter, Facebook, blogs and other places.  In addition, Erik’s new book socialnomics:  how social media transforms the way we live and do business was just released and is enjoying healthy book sales.  I am sure this video – just uploaded the other day on You Tube and described recently in Erik’s blog – will also enjoy some significant distribution.  What I really liked about the video is that it provides illustrations and the Social Media ROI benefits from some of the country’s leading brands, such as Ford, Burger King, and Dell, amongst others.  Here is a link to the video [ENJOY!] and be sure to read Erik’s blog for more context.

Is Interactive TV Going to Be a Reality Any Time Soon?:  Talking Back to the TV

The article talks about the recent “star turn” for the television commercial as interactive features have been embedded into television commercials and is producing results for leading companies like Burger King, Unilever, and Procter & Gamble.  I very much enjoyed the description of “Double Pits to Chesty” campaign for Axe deoderant which provided how to information to guys on how to best apply their deoderant!  It had a comic twist as well as motorcross champion Adam Jones that improved its “chesty” appeal!  I also like this article as it may be reflective of a real turning point for interactive television ads.
